Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do I need to have a gun to take a class through Shooting With Sherry?
No. You are not required to bring a firearm. For an additional charge, I have guns that you can use during your training.
2. Is ammunition included in the price of the class?
Ammunition is included at my discretion. If you are using one of my designated training firearms, I will include ammunition to allow you enough to complete the course. I do not provide ammunition for your own firearm.
3. Do I need to have experience to take a course?
No. You are not required to have any prior experience to take a course or receive range instruction. I specialize in instruction for beginners.
4. How do I sign up for a course?
To sign up for instruction, go to the “Contact Me” page to inquire about availability and additional details. I will reach out to you to determine your needs and best approach for your instruction.
5. How do I get my Concealed Weapons Permit?
To receive your concealed weapons license, you will need to complete the NRA Basic Pistol Course, and receive your Certificate of Completion. Once you have successfully completed the course with me, I will provide you with your certificate. You can then apply online for your CWP, or pick up an application packet at a local gun shop. The application will include instructions for how to apply. Some items required for your concealed weapons permit application include the following: Fingerprints, a passport type photo, payment, and a copy of your NRA Certificate (do not send original). Be sure to read all instructions completely before submitting your CWP application.
6. How long do I have to apply once I receive my NRA Basic Pistol Certificate of Completion?
Your certificate does not expire. You can apply for your CWP whenever you are ready.
7. What can I expect during instruction?
My first priority as an instructor is to establish a foundation of safety for my students. Once safety is established, we will move on to the application of skills. You can expect to receive actual instruction of how to safely operate your firearm. I will take you through each step of the firing process, and act as a mentor during your training. I will never leave you alone on the firing line. As your instructor you can expect me to kind, patient and mindful of your comfort to maximize your instruction experience.
8. After I complete a course through Shooting With Sherry, will I be prepared to go to the range on my own?
Every shooter is different and the results depend on the individual. Any shooter that does not feel comfortable going to the range after a course is completed should request additional instruction for continued skill improvement. The more range instruction a student receives, the greater the confidence and skill an individual will experience.
9. Are there any reasons that I might be denied instruction through Shooting With Sherry?
Although I make every effort to provide individuals with instruction, scheduling conflicts may impede my ability to provide you with instruction at the date, time and location of which you request. Due to this, instruction is not guaranteed for every request. Additionally, I reserve the right to refuse instruction to any individual who does not follow safety protocols, or at my discretion, appears to be, or has the potential to be, a danger to self or others.
